"Bastos Kayo" President Duterte to ABS-CBN and Inquirer

President Duterte launched profanity-filled attacks against the media companies during his speech at Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) officers oath taking at the Heroes Hall in Malacañang Place on Tuesday (March 30)

The President mentioned two big news companies when he’s talking about corrupt media, Inquirer and ABS-CBN and labeled them as garbage.

He even cursed the two media outlets for being unfair in their reporting,
“Inquirer, you’ve never been fair. I know it’s supposed to be antagonistic, but fair? Mga bastos kayo, pati ABS-CBN,”Duterte said.

The President claimed that some of his statements were twisted by journalist and they only chose the negative words that coming out from his mouth.

Duterte also gave a hint that he might not entertain the press anymore and he would launch his own show in PTV4 to criticize the media outlets.

“Kung babanatan ninyo ako sa mga editorial ninyo, magpo-program na lang ako araw-araw sa PTV 4 at doon ko kayo babanatan kahit araw-araw….kung gusto ninyo magbabuyan na lang tayo”, he added.

The President said that the media companies didn’t checked the veracity of the stories that they published, including the alleged hidden wealth issue that Duterte faced during the election period.

He also mentioned that the media even made a big deal when they saw an oxygen concentrator inside his house during his birthday.

The President believes that some media outlets bears a grudge against him because the presidential candidate that they supported was defeated by him last election.

He also labeled the owners of media companies and the catholic church as “oligarchs”

It’s not the first time that President Duterte blasted the media outlets for their reporting. Several months ago, Duterte attacked the media outlets for highlighting the accusations of Senator Trillanes against him that he amassed a hidden wealth.

On June 2016, President-Elect Duterte boycotted the media, but he ended it after one month of not entertaining any interviews from the press.
