Malacañang Fired DILG Secretary Sueno Over His Corruption

UPDATE: Presidential Spokesperson Abella, confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte fired President Duterte because of “loss of trust and confidence”

Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueño has been fired from his current position because of corruption issues that he faced according to a source from Malacañang.

Three of his undersecretaries allegedly sent the alleged corruption practices of Sueno in Malacañang Palace and according to them, the latter gained some properties when he started his job as the Secretary.

In a confidential memorandum obtained by the press, undersecretaries Jesus Hinlo for public safety, Emilie Padilla for legislative liaison and John Castriciones for operations accused Sueno of owning a brand new hotel and farming equipments since his appointment as DILG Secretary.

The memorandum also said that the farm of Sueno “which only used to have one nipa hut when he was not yet in government, now has several expensive structures being built.” They also said that several trucks for his rice business were also bought abroad even if they can be brought locally in a cheaper price.

His grandson Senior Supt. Sintin also allegedly collects illegal gambling money on his behalf. But Sueno denied the accusations of his 3 undersecretaries and he said that they tried to destroy him to President Duterte because he lessen the power of their positions because of being underperformed.

Sueno explained that the new hotel was owned by his longtime businessman brother and the trucks were owned by his daughter who is a businesswoman. The DILG Secretary said that his three undersecretaries wanted him to be ousted because they wanted other person to head the office.

But Palace sources that Sueno was informed by President Rodrigo Duterte during the cabinet meeting that he’s already fired from his post because of alleged corruption. The President also said during one of his speeches last week that he fired another official because of corruption.

An argument also broke between Seuno and other officials according to the source. Even Sass Rogando Sasot got the information about the removal of Sueno as DILG Secretary.

In an interview, Undersecretary John Castriciones told the reporters that they wanted President Duterte to investigate “quietly” to the alleged corruption practices of Sueno, but the DILG Secretary made it public.
